Epoxy floor coatings have a textured finish.  It is made from small natural marble stones and quartz, which gives it its texture.  This makes it an excellent slip-resistant floor.

Floors can get stained and dirty over time, that’s why epoxy floor coatings are a great way to extend the life of your concrete and make it very durable.  Epoxy floor coatings adhere to many surfaces including concrete, ceramic tile, quarry tile, mosaic tile, hardwood, linoleum, plywood, sheet vinyl, steel decks, stone and cement board walls.  It’s chemical resistant to most chemicals and holds up well in extreme temperatures.  Epoxy floor coatings are an excellent choice for a commercial restaurant kitchens with ovens, grills and fryers, because it can absorb high temperatures.  On the flip side, It’s also a great choice for rooms that are freezers and coolers.

When choosing a floor for a high traffic area, wear resistance is important.  Many resinous floors are diluted with fillers and/or solvents, after some time a wear path begins to form.  Most flooring cannot take the abuse of heavy traffic in addition to harsh elements.  Daily foot traffic wears away the substance of most floorings, which is why “wear marks” are visible.

Most new facilities have beautiful flooring in the beginning.  But over time that changes once it’s subjected to day-to-day wear and tear.

Epoxy floor coatings are a resin-rich floor, meaning the stones are completely saturated in epoxy resin, which makes it non-porous and therefore easy to clean.  All you need to clean it is a mop, detergent and water.  Epoxy flooring is so durable that it can also be cleaned with hot water, steam or even pressure washed, if necessary.

Epoxy floor coatings can also have added non-slip grit.  It is still completely non-porous and cleanable.  In some applications, such as in a commercial kitchen, an additional grit is added to the glaze coat giving it added slip resistance.  Cleaning methods are different for these floors.  It’s recommended using a deck brush to scrub the floor and remove excess water with a squeegee.
